Simien Mountains Trekking

Overview

Omo Valley lies in the south and this tour takes you through Mago National park. The Karo, Mursi and Hamar tribes live primarily as pastoralists near the Omo River. The Mursi are known for their lip plates, earlobes and stick fighting (Donga). The Hamar women are striking; wearing beautiful colorful beads and goatskins, ornate necklaces, and metal bangles around their wrist and ankles and crowns of long dread-lock braids covered in ocher. Hamar are also famous for their ritual Bull jumping. The Karo tribe is known for elaborate body painting. These tribes and their unique and symbolic cultures are fascinating.

Itinerary

Day 1Addis Ababa- Gondar - Sankaber

In the morning fly to Gondar. Up on arrival directly transfer to the Simien Mountains National Park. The Siemen Mountains National Park is recorded in the UNESCO heritage list for its superlative natural phenomena. Enjoy spectacular scenery and endemic wild life such as the Gelada baboons overnight: Camping

Day 2Sankaber – Geech

In the morning trek to Geech enjoying spectacular scenery en-route. Overnight camping

Day 3Geech - Chennek

In the morning trek to Imet Gogo for staggering view and then proceed to Chennek.

Overnight: Camping

Day 4Chennek - Ambiqo

In the morning trek to Bwahit and proceed to Ambiquo. Overnight: Camping

Day 5Ambiqo - Ras Dashen Ambiqo

Trek to Ras Dashen and back to Ambiquo. Overnight camping

Day 6Ambiqo - Chennek

In the morning trek back to Chennek. Overnight: Camping

Day 7Chennek - Gondar

Drive back to Gondar Afternoon visit the Royal enclosure consisting of several castles inscribed by UNESCO, King Fasiledes’s bath and the fascinating Debre Birhan Selassie church which is well known for its intriguing ceiling paintings.

Day 8Gondar - Addis Ababa

Fly back to Addis Ababa In the afternoon spend at leisure or going out for shopping Transfer to the airport to catch your international flight
