Day By Day Itinerary For Kruger Budget 4 Nights 5days Safari.

Day 1: Johannesburg to Kruger

This Kruger budget safari departs daily from Johannesburg.  7.30 am - 8 am Pickup from your hotel or OR Tambo Airport.

You travel East passing picturesque landscapes and farmlands on route to our lodge near Kruger. There are two 15 minute comfort stops en route. You will also be able to buy snacks and refreshments during these comfort stops. ETA in Hazyview is around 1 pm.

After check in you will have time relax and freshen up before boarding an open sided safari vehicle for an exciting 2 – 2.5 hour late afternoon game drive in Kruger National Park. The lodge is about 15 – 20 minutes’ drive from the Phabeni Kruger Gate.

After your safari game drive you return to the lodge where you can unwind, have drinks and relax.

Day 2: Full day game drive in Kruger

This morning you will enjoy coffee/tea and rusks before departing on full day of game viewing in the Kruger National Park (Skukuza area). A Packed breakfast is included.  Game drives are in small groups in specially modified open sided land cruisers.

The Skukuza area is rich in wildlife and the elevated height of the 4×4 open sided vehicle makes for excellent viewing and photographic opportunities. You’ll enjoy lunch at one of the park’s restaurants.  (own account). After lunch we start the afternoon game drive in the Kruger National Park.

During these game drives, you’ll see a wide variety of wildlife and have plenty of photographic opportunities. After our tour, we’ll make our way to back to our lodge or camp.

Day 3: Panorama route

Today you will go on a tour of the Panorama Route. You depart on this 8 hour scenic excursion just after a scrumptious full course breakfast. Scenic stops along the Panorama Route include:

God’s Window

  • The Pinnacle
  • Bourke’s Luck Potholes
  • Blyde River Canyon / Three rondavels
  • Wonderview
  • At least 1 of the following waterfalls: Lisbon Falls, Mac-Mac Falls, Lone creek Falls. (Depends on time of year and rainfall)
  • Lunch along the route at own cost. 

Day 4: Full day game drive in Kruger

Start your day with coffee, tea, and rusks before embarking on a full-day game drive in Kruger National Park's Skukuza region. A packed breakfast is included. Game drives are conducted in small groups in specially modified open-sided land cruisers. 

The Kruger National Park is also home to a wide variety of other wildlife, and the elevated height of the 4x4 open-sided vehicle provides excellent viewing and photography opportunities. Lunch at one of the park's restaurants is at your own expense. After lunch, we resume our afternoon game drive.

During these game drives, you'll see a wide variety of wildlife and have many photographic opportunities. After our tour, we'll return to our lodge or camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Drop off in Johannesburg

This is the last day of your African Kruger budget safari. This morning you can do an optional sunrise game drive (own account 1250 ZAR per person) or just just enjoy a late breakfast and relax at lodge.

Around midday you depart for Johannesburg. Comfort stops on the way. Drop off at Johannesburg OR Tambo airport around 5.30 pm.

Itinerary for Johannesburg 1 Day Tour

Like to get to know Johannesburg better? This afternoon tour is perfect for it! We take you to the top sites Johannesburg has to offer. Some of the areas our tour passes through are Hillbrow , Central Johannesburg, Braamfontein and Newtown.

We start your introduction to Jozi with a view of the impressive 269 metre Telkom Tower, as seen on many postcards of Johannesburg. We then enter the inspiring Constitution Hill – and Court (when not in session) Political activists like Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi were once held here. During a tour inside you will learn about some of the legal history of Johannesburg.

On our way to Newtown we pass by the longest southern African bridge, named Nelson Mandela bridge. At Mary Fitzgerald Square you can walk on the Jazz Walk of Fame. 

In short, this tour offers you a unique Johannesburg experience at an affordable rate. After collecting you from your hotel or residence in Johannesburg, your guide will give you a quick pre departure tour briefing before departing to Soweto (South Western Township).

On our way to Soweto we pass by the National Football Stadium City, which hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the World Cup 2010. We enter the Diepkloof area, where we will take a walk past vendors selling just about anything.

In Orlando West we visit Vilakazi Street- drive past the former home of Nelson Mandela and past the home of Archbishop Desmond Tutu. You will have an opportunity to read about the Soweto uprising on 16 June 1976. On that tragic day an innocent little boy called Hector Pieterson gave up his life and kick-started the liberation of South Africa.

During this tour we will pass by the Mandela House. A visit into the museum is optional. We continue our tour driving into one of the shanty towns where you get to interact with some of the locals. By now you will have seen the good, the bad and the ugly facets of Soweto. We drive past the Soweto Campus of the Johannesburg University and Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.

After Lunch (own account), you will arrive at the world famous Apartheid Museum. Here you will learn about the history and struggle of South Africa during apartheid.  Due to covid-19 the Museum is currently closed.
