You will meet our guide at the airport and begin the day with a moving visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, honoring the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Depart the bustling capital and journey north through Rwanda’s lush hills and vibrant towns (~2.5 hours) to Volcanoes National Park, famous for Dian Fossey’s groundbreaking gorilla research. After check-in and lunch, explore the Ellen DeGeneres Gorilla Fund Campus & Museum, followed by a cultural visit to the Gorilla Guardian Village.
This morning go for an included Golden Monkey Trekking and/or opt to upgrade for Mountain Gorilla Trekking that requires an additional $1,500 USD for the gorilla permit. After an early breakfast, transfer to Kinigi Park HQ for a briefing before heading into the rainforest to track a habituated gorilla family. Spend an unforgettable hour observing them up close. Afterwards, cross into Uganda and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Enjoy another morning of gorilla trekking, this time in Uganda’s dense and mystical Bwindi Forest. Accompanied by an experienced ranger, hike through the forest in search of gorillas. Once found, enjoy a close encounter from a distance of about 10 meters, watching their natural behavior. Return to the lodge in the afternoon.
After breakfast, set off for Queen Elizabeth National Park, a haven for diverse wildlife. In the afternoon, embark on your first game drive—look out for elephants, lions, hippos, buffalo, and the elusive tree-climbing lions.
Start with a dawn game drive across the Kasenyi Plains, home to predators and prey alike—jackals, warthogs, Uganda kob, and more. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, famed for its high concentration of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and waterbirds. End the day with a relaxing game viewing drive back to the camp.
Following an early morning breakfast, transfer to Kalinzu Forest for an exhilarating chimpanzee trek. After the trek, drive to Lake Mburo National Park, a serene park known for its savannah, acacia woodlands, and abundant plains wildlife.
Experience the park on foot during a morning walking safari, where you may encounter zebras, impalas, topis, warthogs, and more, all in peaceful silence. Afterwards, transfer to Entebbe marking an end of your tour. Your driver/guide will drop you at your preferred hotel in Entebbe or at the airport for your outbound flight.
